The Kasur Mawakhat Program (KMP) was a participatory rural development program that mobilized local communities to lead their development projects in their villages.
The project was successfully completed (2014 – 2018) in Union Council Marali, District Kasur, where villages were converted to model villages and many acres of barren, saline and water-logged soil was reclaimed and made cultivable.
Achievements
4,475 interest-free loans given to households
PKR 160 million disbursed as interest-free loans
135% growth in profits from rice crops between 2015-2018
15% increase in productivity during the same period
100% vaccination coverage in all 7 villages for children under 5 years of age
425 eye surgeries have been conducted
Increase in attendance and school enrollment
3 villages completed the livestock survey to identify development interventions
10 small farmers assisted by veterinary specialists to build model dairy farms
46 entrepreneurs have been given training relevant to their enterprises
112 households have diversified income through enterprise development
14,400 trees planted by organized households
3 villages replicating a communal park set up at Loneke
3 small RO plants for water purification installed
